Cara Gereau

Cara Gereau is a somatic psychotherapist, horsewoman, and adjunct faculty in the Somatic Psychology graduate program at the California Institute of Integral Studies. She is the founder of Equine Somatic Pathways, which offers both a self-development path for horse people and a certification program for practitioners weaving together body-based modalities, parts work, and relationship, with the horse at the center. Years ago she left a corporate executive career at its peak because she knew there had to be more. The intersection of horses and somatic psychology was the invitation. Decades of horsemanship shaped a practice that listens to what horses and humans are saying beneath their words: the patterns, the protectors, and the often unconscious negotiations for safety and contact. She practices in West Marin, California, where she lives with her family, rides the coastal hills, and continues to be schooled daily by the horses. She is the author of the children’s book I Love Your Heart and All Your Feeling Parts.
